Town Meeting Warrant
"The Town of Mattapoisett will present a 29 Article Town Meeting Warrant that will not only seek approval of the FY27 budget, but will also address items of significant importance to the community’s future. These include proposed bylaw changes to support more affordable housing options, such as Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) and Cottage Communities, as well as the adoption of new local revenue sources, including rooms and short-term rental taxes.
The warrant also includes articles to support critical infrastructure improvements, including the replacement of the Water Street Culvert, the re-lining of the water main at Pine Island, and to authorize the acquisition of easements necessary to advance the Town’s Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). This program includes the reconstruction of key roadways, including Main Road, Water Street, Beacon Street, and Marion Road.
Finally, the warrant proposes the use of free cash for necessary capital expenditures, including the replacement of highway equipment and a police cruiser, as well as funding essential maintenance for Town buildings and equipment. These investments are intended not only to extend the useful life of municipal assets, but also to improve the working environment for Town staff.
