Building Momentum: Conversations, Community, and the Future of Mattapoisett

Over the past week, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with so many members of our community—and I’m incredibly grateful for the energy, engagement, and thoughtful conversations that continue to shape this campaign.
I also had the opportunity to participate in Candidates Night hosted by the League of Women Voters. It was an important forum to discuss the issues facing Mattapoisett and to share my experience and approach to leadership. I’m proud of the conversation we had and grateful to everyone who attended and participated. The video can be found here: https://vimeo.com/1185986220?fl=pl&fe=sh
We followed with a wonderful campaign launch event at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library, followed by a great meet and greet at the Town Wharf General Store. Both events were a reminder of what makes our town so special—people who care, who show up, and who are invested in our shared future.
Throughout these events, I’ve focused on what I believe sets my candidacy apart: current, hands-on experience in municipal government and a proven ability to deliver results.
For the past six years, I’ve been working on real-time challenges that directly reflect what our town is facing—managing complex budgets, negotiating contracts across multiple bargaining units, and making difficult decisions in a constrained financial environment. This is not theoretical work—it’s what I’m doing today.
In addition, through collaboration and strong relationships at the state level, I’ve helped secure nearly one million dollars in earmark funding to support local priorities. That kind of cross-functional work—connecting local needs with state resources—is critical as we navigate rising costs and limited state aid.
We’ve also had meaningful conversations about the issues that matter most:
Thoughtful approaches to affordable housing
Preparing for the impacts of climate change along our coastline
Supporting our seniors while attracting and retaining young families
Managing rising costs while maintaining the services our residents rely on
These are complex challenges—but they are not insurmountable. With strong collaboration, informed decision-making, and a willingness to take action, we can move Mattapoisett forward together.
And there are more opportunities ahead to continue these conversations.
This Wednesday, I’ll be participating in Candidates Night hosted by the Mattapoisett Democratic Town Committee from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. I hope you’ll join us, ask questions, and be part of the discussion.
We also have a campaign fundraiser coming up on May 8th from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the The Inn at Shipyard Park. It will be another great opportunity to connect, learn more about my platform, and show your support.
I encourage you to come out, ask questions, share your perspectives, and stay engaged. This campaign is about all of us—and about building a strong, sustainable future for our community.
I’m ready to do that work.
Frances For the Future.
